Field Paramedic

JOB SUMMARY:
Provides Advanced Life Support including medical evaluation, treatment, and stabilization of the critically ill and injured. Maintains control. Manages and directs patient care at the scene of a pre-hospital emergency. Provides non-emergency care and transport as required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Renders both emergency pre-hospital care and care in connection with inter-facility transfers in accordance with the department’s medical protocols.
- Transports the ill and injured to appropriate institutions of medical care.
- Observe, record, and report the patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents to receiving facility in a timely manner.
- Operates emergency vehicles in a safe manner under all conditions.
- Responds to all requests for service within identified time standards.
- Maintains stations in an orderly and clean fashion.
- Monitors communication equipment to main contact with the communications center
- Responds to direction from the Communications Center
- Reports equipment malfunctions as required.
- Be available for overtime, on call, and PR Events
- Participating in ongoing education opportunities
- Collaborate with other crew members and other responding agency personnel on patient care issues.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Use of the English language, both spoken and written
- Understanding of office computer hardware (i.e.: PC’s, tablets, laptops, copier, printer, fax) and software (i.e.: Microsoft Office, EMR, email, internet)
- Understanding of radio and paging equipment
- Confidentiality and integrity
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Must possess good customer service and people skills.
- Must possess positive, team-oriented attitude.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Texas EMT-Paramedic Certification required; License preferred.
- No Experience Required; 1-2 years 911 experience preferred.
- FP-C or CCP-C Preferred
- AHA CPR Provider Certification Required
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
- Remain insurable by the current insurance vendor of PCHD.
SALARY:
- 48/96 work Schedule
- $73,446 to $91,783 based on years of experience.
