JOB SUMMARY:
The EMS Instructor is a vital part of the Parker County Hospital District team. The EMS Instructor provides instruction for PHCD’s educational offerings, and participates in program planning, delivery, and evaluation of all aspects of the course.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Participates in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of PCHD educational program offerings.
- Prepares and delivers instruction either at the PCHD facilities or off-site, as required.
- Supervises the activities of course participants during instructional time.
- Evaluates learner performance, provides feedback, and develops learner remediation plans.
- Fulfills PCHD educational program administrative requirements, to include calculation and submission of grades, maintenance of the course, student/participant records, and the preparation/submission of course data/reports.
- Participates in continuing professional development programs as appropriate.
- Adheres to established PCHD EMS Academy departmental policies and procedures.

- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Ability to assess student performance, progress, and provide them with appropriate feedback.
- Ability to promote critical thinking and problem-solving amongst the students.
- Ability to adhere to established standards for educational quality.
- Ability to maintain complete, accurate educational records.
- Knowledge of EMS educational program accreditation processes and standards.
- Basic computer knowledge with various programs (i.e. Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma - Required
- Associate’s degree in Science, Education, Training, HR or related field - Preferred
- Current Texas certification or licensure; EMT - Required. EMT-P - Preferred
- BLS, ACLS, PHTLS, AMLS, and PALS with Instructor Status - Preferred
- Current Texas Instructor certification Required, or able to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- Minimum three (3) years of healthcare experience - Required. Five (5) years - Preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years teaching experience - Preferred.
