MAP Eligibility Specialist

JOB SUMMARY:
Performs an essential role as an Administration team member for Parker County Hospital District by evaluating patients’ needs and providing resources to clinical and MAP eligible patients. The position requires routine contact with patients, vendors, clinical staff and administrative staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Review and process applications for Medical Assistant Programs.

Interview applicants (in-person, by phone, or virtually) to gather required information.

Verify income, assets, household composition, residency, and other eligibility factors.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of MAP Guidelines.

Communicate eligibility decisions to applicants and explain rights or reasons for denial.

Work with case management staff to ensure timely access to medical care for eligible clients.

Maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with HIPAA and other regulations.

Enter and update information in state eligibility systems or databases.

Identify and report discrepancies or suspected fraud..

Return incoming messages in a timely manner.

Maintains professional, orderly, business like environment at his or her work station.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of MAP Guidelines.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of Medicaid rules and public benefits programs.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to analyze financial and legal documents.
- Proficiency in computer systems and data entry.
- Use of the English language, both spoken and written.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and medications.
EDUATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, business administration, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: 1–3 years of experience in eligibility determination, case management, social services, or healthcare administration.
