Community Health Program Helps Local Resident

Parker County Hospital District's Community Health Program teamed up with Operation Texas Strong to help Larry, a man in need after losing his home to a devastating fire.
We are proud to share a heartwarming story of collaboration and community support. Recently, Parker County Hospital District's Community Health Program teamed up with Operation Texas Strong to help Larry, a man in need after losing his home to a devastating fire. Larry had been living in a small shed on his property with very limited space. Thanks to the efforts of John Martin, EMT-P, FPC, our Community Health Paramedic, who reached out to Operation Texas Strong, a nonprofit that provides RV donations to veterans, Larry was given a safe place to stay. With the help of his amazing neighbor Rolando, who got the water and electricity connected, and PCHD’s delivery of food and clothing donations, together we made sure Larry was taken care of and living under much better conditions. We are thankful to everyone involved for stepping up and making a real difference!

The Parker County Hospital District's Community Health Program is an evolving model of care where paramedics provide non-emergency health services. Through specialized training, our paramedics assist Parker County citizens with chronic health issues, reducing their reliance on 911 for primary care and preventing unnecessary ambulance transports. Our Community Health Paramedics offer home visits, connect patients to primary care, assist with medication and healthcare needs, and provide referrals for food and utility assistance. They are committed to helping individuals like Larry through compassionate, community-based care.

Chapter #6, Texas Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) visited Weatherford, Texas, to honor two exceptional employees from the Parker County Hospital District. President Ron Turner awarded Kaitlyn Johnson and Drew Clinkscales with the SAR EMS Commendation Medal for their exemplary service.

On May 3rd, 2024 Kaitlyn Johnson handled an emergency 911 call from a frantic father whose wife was in active labor. With outstanding calm and professionalism, Kaitlyn guided the father through delivering their baby, providing critical instructions on clamping the umbilical cord and managing postpartum bleeding. Her expert assistance ensured the safety of both the mother and the newborn until medical personnel arrived.

On May 1st, 2024 Supervisor Drew Clinkscales responded to a social media alert about a missing elderly man. While driving on Santa Fe Dr. in Weatherford, Drew spotted an individual matching the description. He quickly turned back, verified the man's identity, and called the police while assessing the man’s medical condition. The elderly man was found to be in good health and was safely reunited with his family.

Cardiac Arrest Survivor

Addrian Madere and family with first responders.
June 13, 2024

Recently, we came together to honor Addrian Madere and her family. The PCHD administration, board member Mike Carter, the Weatherford Fire Department, and our dedicated EMS personnel came together to celebrate Addrian's remarkable recovery from cardiac arrest.

This event holds special significance because of our tradition of inviting survivors to revisit PCHD and sign the Cardiac Arrest Survivor plaque. This plaque, proudly displayed in our EMS Training Facility, symbolizes the resilience and strength of those who have overcome such challenges.

We are deeply grateful for the unwavering dedication of our Parker County Hospital District EMS personnel, EMS Telecommunicators, and the City of Weatherford firefighters, whose life-saving efforts were crucial in Addrian’s recovery. We especially commend PCHD EMS heroes Lesley Jones, Scott Calhoun, Taylor Jennings, and Drew Clinkscales for their exceptional actions in this story of courage and survival.
